Classic Spaghetti

1. **Ingredients:**
   - 400g spaghetti
   - 2 tbsp olive oil
   - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
   - 2 cloves garlic, minced
   - 400g ground beef or pork
   - 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
   - 1 can (400g) tomato sauce
   - 2 tbsp tomato paste
   - 1 tsp dried oregano
   - 1 tsp dried basil
   - 1/2 tsp salt
   - 1/4 tsp black pepper
   - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
   - Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

2. **Instructions:**
   1. **Cook the Pasta:**
      - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

   2. **Prepare the Sauce:**
      - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
      - Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
      - Add the ground beef or pork and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
      - Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Mix well.
      - Season with oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

   3. **Combine and Serve:**
      - Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce, tossing well to coat the pasta evenly.
      - Serve hot, with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves on top if desired.
